Isle of Shuna is one of the largest independent producers of rope-grown Scottish mussels. Our mussels are cultivated in ideal conditions, the warm plankton-rich streams surrounding the Scottish West Coast and the Shetland Islands, where we produce the famous Demlane mussels.

The combination of our rich heritage and innovative approach to harvesting and processing has dynamically changed the way the industry is managed. We were the first to grow mussels on long lines and the first to sell mussels boxed and iced. With our two locations and businesses, we now have almost year-round continuity of mussel production. This has led to us achieving a 25 per cent market share of Scottish farmed mussels in the UK.

We also work with nature, rather than against – our rope-grown mussels are cultivated in a sustainable manner, making as little impact as possible to the surrounding eco-balance.
